James Newton

James is a photographer of architecture, lighting design & the built environment.  He has many years of experience & provides imagery for a range of UK based & International clients, including architects, lighting designers & manufacturers.  His images are regularly published in the press and online.

As well as still photographs James also produces moving images such as photographic sequences and video. He specialises in helping his clients maintain a strong presence online as well as in print, as the architectural and lighting market increasingly recognise the value of this type of approach. Another facet of his work is to bring a more contextual approach to a project by photographing the wider area within which it is located, both before & after completion, showing how a building relates to its surroundings and the place in which it is located.

James has had a long term interest in light as a subject & previously trained and worked as a lighting designer, so his industry experience & technical knowledge allow him to approach each commission from the point of view of both photographer & designer.
