A conversion of a derelict 1960s modernist house in the outskirts of Amersham, Buckinghamshire UK. Surrounded by the Buckingham woodland and a local Church to one side, the house has aspects to all directions. Most of the original brickwork was retained and painted black, half of the roof was raised but the other half retained to the original pitch. An extension to create a larger space for the master bedroom was added to the end of the building volume projecting further into the garden. A new entrance lobby has also been added. The house is entirely black to the external face and reflects the surrounding nature throughout the season. In contrast, the interior is more of an off white tone with all joinery including windows and doors in oak. The dark and light contrast makes this building highly transparent absorbing the surrounding environment throughout the changing seasons.
