Housing Scheme by Piers Gough at Arsenal Emirates Stadium. Part of the Arsenal masterplan, the Queensland Road scheme delivers much needed regeneration to the area. The scheme consists of a sinuous terrace of housing which mediates between the new infrastructure of the stadium and the neighbouring Victorian terraces. Five semicircular-ended residential towers echo the curves of the terrace and step up from the street to the stadium. They terminate in circular and lozenge shaped turrets. The new buildings have a strong articulation and palette of materials including long horizontal windows in London stock brick emphasising the sinusoidal curves of the terrace, blue glazed ceramic tiles and light bronze aluminium cladding panels on the glamorous towers. The scheme will also benefit from a new Community Sports Centre run by Arsenal.
